ap police JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Police say they have one suspect in custody in the ambush shootings of two police officers Thursday at a motel in the southern Indiana city of Jeffersonville.

Jeffersonville police confirm the arrest but won't identify the suspect. Local media reports say police in nearby New Albany arrested 22-year-old Vincent Windell Jr. before noon.

Police were still searching for another suspect, 37-year-old Robert Datillo. Jeffersonville Cpl. Dan Lawhorn and Patrolman Keith Broady were in stable condition Friday at a Louisville, Ky., hospital, where both underwent surgery.

Police say they were shot at the door of a motel room after going there to investigate reports of illegal drug activity. Drugs and two pipe bombs were found in the room.
