HAZARDOUS TRAVEL EXPECTED IN SOME AREAS TODAY.

COLD NORTHWEST WINDS BEHIND A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM LOCATED OVER SOUTHERN QUEBEC WILL RESULT IN LAKE SNOW SHOWERS ACROSS PARTS OF NORTHERN LOWER AND EASTERN UPPER MICHIGAN THROUGH THE DAY.

SEVERAL INCHES OF NEW SNOW ARE EXPECTED.

IN ADDITION...GUSTY WINDS WILL PRODUCE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW...AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES.

CHIPPEWA-MACKINAC-INCLUDING THE CITIES OF SAULT STE. MARIE...ST. IGNACE

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING.

SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO 5 INCHES ARE EXPECTED TODAY... MAINLY WEST OF I-75 NEAR WHITEFISH POINT.

THIS WILL RESULT IN STORM TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 10 INCHES OVER WESTERN CHIPPEWA AND MACKINAC COUNTIES FOR THE WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY TIME PERIOD.

IN ADDITION...GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS WILL PRODUCE SUBSTANTIAL BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW...REDUCED VISIBILITIES...AND LOCALLY HAZARDOUS TRAVEL.

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING.

SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...USE EXTREME CAUTION.
